Tilly Alice

After submitting my Albe is Afraid of Armpits manuscript to Penguin, I am now whiling away the hours hoping for a response by writing a second manuscript. This one is a rhyming script about a young girl called Tilly Alice who is constantly tickled because she is so small. It is about my niece Matilda Alice Hutchinson. I've been taking inspiration from Slinky Malinki by Lynley Dodd and the wonderful Madeline series by Ludwig Bemelmans. Here is a peek at my first draft of the first few lines:

Tilly Alice
had an elegant nose,
long skinny fingers,
and ten perfect toes.

She had flickers of freckles,
brown bouncy locks,
blue saucer-shaped eyes,
and wore polka dot socks.

Albe is Afraid of Armpits

Today I completed my weekend course in Byron Bay on writing books for children. I am now armed with enthusiasm and great ideas for launching my Albe series into the published world.
